Is it bad that I got pissed off at this? A (straight) male friend of mine posted the following as his away message:
“Who went to 4 gay bars last night? Me. Who TOTALLY got 2 free drinks? Me. Who totally got stared at by a few guys? Me. Who now knows what it’s like to be a female at a straight bar? Me.”
I had to stop myself from saying, “Until you know what’s it’s like to get that same treatment while you’re on the trolley on the way to the bar, in the taxi on the ride back, grocery shopping that weekend, walking home on the street in broad daylight, and from coworkers at the office when the work week starts again, only without the bonus of free drinks, then, no, you don’t really know.”
the problem is too many guys stare at every girl they see, often to creepy degrees.
i propose that everyone is given 3 stare-passes per day, and if you see someone you want to look at for more than a little bit, you have to play the card. this adds a little weight to a guy/gal choosing to ogle you, and also makes it more likely that you won’t already be so g-damn tired of people eye-stalking you, that you fail to realize that the person staring at you is awesome (like say if I was staring at you, for example)
so … how quickly can we put this into law?
(also, if anyone’s caught breaking this law, then we stick them in the tourist lane)
