How do we know that he wasn’t actually late for the inauguration and that he didn’t get there when it was all over? Is there a picture of him there while it was going on? :)

more importantly … does Denzel not have any friends?  He couldn’t get Spike Lee, or Julia Roberts, or … that kid who played Antwone Fisher to come sit with him? 
I mean — he’s got a wife.
