Tom Hanks recites the complete “shimmy, shimmy, cocoa pop” chant from Big on a BBC talk show. [via mikecourtien]
I’m not saying it’s more important than curing cancer or AIDS or whatever, but figuring out a way to clone this man, so we can each have our own personal Tom Hanks to hang out with, should be a pretty high priority of ours.
A Mother’s day special. You have to watch this video. Mr. T’s first lines are priceless:
“Don’t bring anyone’s mother into this, she ain’t here. And if it wasn’t for your mother, you wouldn’t be here.”
Mother, There is No Other, Like Mother, So Treat Her Right (ht)
Mr. T raps. Well, sort of. Not sure how my mother would react to this Mother’s Day video, but she doesn’t know how to use the internets, so whew.
say what you will about Mr. T, but he damn sure loved his mama.
This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley’s base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz’s added some metal percussion to it. And from there, it just gets rock ‘n’ rolling bananas: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones.

Geek Out of the Day: Patrick Boivin’s latest stop-motion masterpiece involves an epic fight to the death between the action figures of Bruce Lee and Iron Man.
Fun Fact: Boivin is self-taught. Maybe you really can do anything you set your mind to. Who knew???

is it too late to get Iron Man and Bruce Lee into Toy Story 3?
A girl misses her train to Milan and is set to wait overnight in Rome until dawn. Adorable short film made with 4500+ still photographs!amazing.
This is completely awesome and cute.
This happens to me nearly every time I try to go to Milan.
1. the lesson, as always, is — when in Rome, try to hit girls with your scooter.
2. I like this girl bc she’s pretty in the face. (that reminds me … I liked Amara Karan in the Darjeeling Limited much for the same reason.)
3. this film is even better, I think, if you turn off the sound and play your own favorite song.
Dog doesn’t realize there is no glass in door.
